Our Team
Our teachers and helpers are trained to work with children from all backgrounds and learning levels. We work with babies and kids to make sure they are getting the most from their time at Pre-School and Daycare!
Our staff is CPR & First Aid Certified and many are licensed by the state of Michigan for early childhood care and learning!

Mrs. Angie Weier-Carter, Director
Angie Weier-Carter is the owner and director of Step Above Learning Center. She has been leading the center to success for over 10 years and is excited for 10 more! Having the utmost faith in the care and education provided at Step Above Learning Center, Angie trusted her staff and friends here to care for her only son from his infant years through adolescence. A true family advocate, Mrs. Angie is the foundation of the center with years of experience in child care and early childhood education, and a heart of gold. She cares for her clients and staff as if they were her own family and creates a space of love and compassion comparable to no other daycare or preschool in town.
Ms. Alece Brown-Perry
Alece Brown-Perry has been a lead caregiver at Step Above Learning Center for over 10 years! Every infant that has graced the center with his presence has been held in the loving arms of our own Ms. Alece! She has the love and embrace of a mother and cares for our infants as her own baby girls and boys. Certified in over one hundred child and infant courses and certifications, she has the experience and knowledge of a true child care veteran.
We are so proud and delighted to have a dedicated caregiver like Ms. Alece on our team!
Ms. Davita Chewe
Certified Lead Teacher- Toddler Room
Kristy Briggs
Kristy is a Preschool and Toddler Room Aide who came to us from Western Michigan University. Child care runs in the family for Kristy, whose mother owns and operates two Pre-school programs on the east side of Michigan! Kristy assists with the Spanish learning program at Step Above Learning and is a great addition to our team!
